Your Unfair Advantage over 40 Matters More Now (Because of AI)
Why lived experience is your most valuable asset in an AI world
Your Unfair Advantage
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.
Your unfair advantage is not just important anymore. It is becoming essential.
We are in a moment where anyone can create content quickly. Tools like ChatGPT make it easy to write posts, come up with ideas, and even build entire websites.
At first, that can feel like everything just got more competitive.
In reality, something different is happening.
AI can generate information and organize ideas. It can even sound convincing. What it cannot do is replace lived experience.
It cannot show what it actually feels like to move to another country. It cannot explain what it is like to start over in midlife. It cannot fully capture what you have learned by doing something for years.
That is where the difference is.
Take something simple like gardening. Someone who has done it for years understands things that are hard to explain. They know what actually works, what fails, and why. They have seen the patterns over time. That kind of knowledge comes from experience, not theory — and it is hard to copy.
This is why your advantage matters more now.
The easier it becomes to create content, the more valuable real perspective becomes.
So instead of asking whether everyone is using AI, it helps to ask a different question.
What do I know or understand that is difficult for someone else to replicate?
That is your edge.
It is not about being perfect. It is not about posting more than everyone else. It is not even about having the best strategy. It is about perspective.
A lot of people overlook this. They assume what they know is not that valuable. They think it is too normal or too obvious to share.
That is simply not true. Everyone knows something that other people genuinely need. There are people creating content on how to clean a house, cook a meal on a budget, maintain a car, how to dance — you name it. I believe we all have a duty to share what we know with others.
Your advantage is often right in front of you. It is in what you have done, what you are currently figuring out, and what you see as everyday life.
Right now, those are the things that stand out.
If you are building something online, do not try to compete with AI. Use it as a tool, but do not try to replace your own voice with it.
The people who stand out will not be the ones who produce the most content. They will be the ones who bring something real into it.
Most of the time, that is already something you have. Now go out and build something that will make the world a better place. You will be happier for it too.
